About the Author
Ken Brown is BBC's golf analyst. His 'Ken on the course' features at the Masters and Open have become must-see viewing for golf fans worldwide. As well as the BBC, he also commentates for the Golf Channel whose reach includes 82 million homes in the US as part of NBC's sports output and the feed is taken by dozens of TV networks across the globe.
Ken was a successful golf professional in his own right, winning four times on the European Tour and once on the PGA Tour. He's represented Europe in five Ryder Cups between 1977 and 1988 and played for Scotland in four World Cups.
One Putt is Ken's labour of love. It combines his endless enthusiasm for the game with a wealth of knowledge and anecdotes on some of golf's greatest stars.

Essential reading

I don't often write reviews, but this book warrants comment. In a simple, organised way Mr Brown systematically goes though various steps, from selecting an appropriate putter, reading greens, gripping the putter, etc., to swinging the club correctly. Each step is clearly explained with good photos and diagrams.There are also very good practice routines, and a guide to trouble shooting. Interspersed are anecdotes from his very successful (and clourful) career, shared with names like Seve Ballesteros, Bernard Langer, etc. The font used for the ancdotes is different to that of the text which makes it easier to use the book as a reference for any specific points. I'm a high handicapper, and do not give advice to low handicappers or pro's. However, at the end of the book there are comments by, among others, Lee Westwood and Darren Clarke, so I'll stick out my neck and say that this book should be in every serious golfer's library.

A great commentator and simplifier of the game of golf - unfortunately too simplified here!

I am an 11 handicap player - not that long but a decent putter - read this book in 2 hours - loved the anecdotal stories but found the advice on putting to be well below par - pity coming from such an affable and likeable commentator with so much experience - if you want one piece of advice not in the book - read greens like a book - looking from the bottom upwards - came from my pro and it helps me more than any other putting advice ever read or heard
