Good primer.

Summarised in just under 100 pages, this is a good read for anyone looking for a brief overview of the conflict. It doesn't do much editorialising, though - so if you're looking for a strong, penetrating view from a heavyweight, this is really more chronicle than commentary. Excellent start, though.

A good introduction to the Arab-Israeli conflict

Schulze's book is not an in depth look at the problems in the Arab-Israeli issue, but is a good introduction to how the problems grew quickly starting in the late 19th century. The main points of conflict discussed briefly with various documents also being included in the back of the text to help you get a better idea of some of the treaties and agreements that have been used starting with the Balfour Agreement.

It's a quick read and will help anyone learn more about the current conflict and the roots of how the conflict began.

Concise and invaluable

This is a strong resource for medical students near the time they are applying for residency. It was well organized and covered the Match process sequentially, from choosing a residency, a time table, choosing an advisor, recommendation letters, interviews, and making your List, etc. I thought the coverage on "what are they [residency programs] looking for?" was particularly strong.

It has a chapter on special situations, but be aware that coverage for international graduates is very brief. It also doesn't cover a lot about choosing a specialty (I thought Anita Taylor's book on how to choose a medical specialty was best for that). It also doesn't cover a lot about strategizing the early medical school years, but that doesn't mean that a first or second year student couldn't benefit from it. I got this book right before starting medical school and matched at my first-choice ophthalmology residency, and this book was great help. Although coverage of some topics (such as for international graduates) was brief, its conciseness was a strong point when I didn't have a lot of time to read, enabling me to read it during my first year and "prime" myself for the match. I was also able to review it again during the interview/match process, and since it was not a heavy book, I was able to take it with me to interviews. This was a very worthwhile book for me.

This book is obsolete! Although it is posted as a "2013", it was actually published in 2000.

This obsolete book was published in 2000. Its data is from the 1990's. It is NOT a 2013 edition, as it is misleadingly listed. Turns out it was "released" in 2013. Why would they post this book as though it is a 2013 ed? On that note, why was a book published in 2000 just being "released" in 2013? Kind of a shady way to sell an obsolete book. Some general info in the book seems sort of helpful, but definitely not worth the price of the book.

First Aid for the Match (Fifth Ed.) is way better, current, and less expensive.

The parts regarding the statistics and the date are outdated but the general content was very well written and gave me the ideas for the whole process and making the decision. I am a foreign medical graduate so I have very few ideas about the whole process. This book is quite good to give me what information to consider where to match, how to write the CV and personal statement.

I'm sure my questions about bitcoin are not unusual, so I was looking forward to having the whole concept explained in understandable terms. It's possible that that's what happened here, but to be honest, I didn't stick around to find out. Every time Geissinger began to address an aspect of bitcoin, he'd take us on a lengthy diversion into American libertarianism, the history of mortgage defaults, or some other topic. I'd lose interest and skim through to see how that affected the development of bitcoin, but eventually gave up. If you want a fairly concise and unbiased (Geissinger is a big fan of bitcoin so has trouble explaining the risks without dismissing them out of hand), John Lanchester has a great article in April 21, 2016 London Review of Books, titled When Bitcoin Grows Up. Explains the history, the risks and benefits, how it's used, and where it might go from here.

Stranger than fiction

My reaction when I started reading news articles about "bitcoin": wait, can they DO that?

I've been bemused ever since, and then when the collapse suddenly happened, we all started to read about some elusive Japanese dude named Satoshi Nakamoto, possibly a fictional person or at least a nom de guerre. The story took on a surreal aspect. Even if you were a genius novelist like Tom Clancy, you couldn't come up with this stuff--Nakamoto, the reclusive (fictional?) genius who invented true electronic currency Bitcoin; Dread Pirate Roberts, drugs, hackers, drugs, counterfeiters, MURDERS, and a guy who acted all na�ve innocent but ended up with a massive jail sentence for providing Silk Road.

This book proves, life is STRANGER than FICTION.

- And then, of course, the Winklevoss brothers who invest in BitCoin early-on thus enabling them to make millions.
- With the increased regulation of Bitcoin, the author believes it will accelerate the cybercurrency’s eventual economic impact.

Covers the basics to intermediate information

This book covers the basics of purchasing an apartment complex or duplex. It doesn't throroughly cover how to inspect the potential building, sources to learn about inspection, purchasing foreclosures ins and outs, handling renters, laws pertaining to landlords, etc. This book has some information to learn about this potential investment but is not in depth enough in my opinion.
